Rod
Peterson (art teacher) took 8 students to participate in the
local art competition at Kayenta,
Utah. These students worked in groups to create
different works of art using chalk.
There were many different art renditions these talented students created
while adding a personal flare to these pieces.
Jessicca, Sapphire, and Blaise created a unique version of “American
Gothic”, adding a New York City
background. Ray Charles was created by
Olivia, Riley, and Sean by incorporating an assortment of bright colors. The final group, which included Lauren and
Tristin, created a portrait of Jimmy Hendrix.
The groups ended up walking home with 4 trophies, including first
place! We are so proud of the many
talents the students of Diamond Ranch possess.

Hiking with Lava Falls
The weather is finally warming up in southern Utah. The area surrounding Diamond Ranch is full of
beautiful hiking trails. Mr. Doug (boys’
history teacher) accompanied by Suka (girls' math teacher) and Reeve took some of our
students from Lava Falls campus on a hike to Zion,
one of the most beautiful national parks in Utah.
The boys had a great time spending the day enjoying the different trails
and seeing the wildlife surrounding the area.

Babylon Arches
On a beautiful day in March the girls’ science teacher (Mr.
Force) along with the help of Reeve (Special Ed. Administrator) and Beth
(girls’ English teacher) took a group of girls on a hike. “The hike to Babylon Arches was really fun,”
replied Siobhan “we climbed a little mountain with sand on it and had fun
jumping down.” Mr. Force showed the
girls many different plants used for medicine and gave interesting facts about
the land. “I put my head inside many
arches,” exclaimed Paige. The girls were
able to take some fun and memorable photos in the many unique rocks. It was a wonderful day for a hike.
